I’m back with a review of my most worn bikini of 2023, the Jil Sander + black nylon bikini.

I got the bikini set on sale for 70% off from the SSENSE sale, summer of 2022. So unfortunately, the bikini is no longer available. I’d try to look and buy it secondhand if I were you because it’s that good!

Price: $450 (but I got it for $135 on SSENSE)

I adore the fabric – how thin but stretchy and soft it is, the tiny adjustable spaghetti straps, and the bandeau top. There’s an interlocking clasp fastening in the back, and it’s fully lined.

REVIEW

I’ve had this bikini set for almost 2 years at this point, and I don’t think I’ll ever come across a swimsuit fabric that is this good again. I do wish the bottoms were cut a bit more high-waisted as these sit more like a regular underwear to me or on me.

A few letters of the Jil Sander + logo printed in the back of the bottoms did end up peeling off when I was washing it after a long day of swimming at the beach in Costa Rica. The metal clasp’s paint also chipped away awhile ago, but that was tiny detail that didn’t matter too much to me.

Again, I wouldn’t buy it at its original price for this printing and clasp quality.

But if you ever come across Jil Sander + swim pieces on sale, BUY IT for the quality of fabric and the minimal Jil Sander design!

I’m linking a few Jil Sander + pieces that I am eyeing, hoping most of them are made from the same soft buttery thin stretchy nylon fabric of the bikini that I’m reviewing in this post.

NOW HERE’S HOW I’D TURN A BIKINI INTO WEAR-ABLE OUTFIT

In Costa Rica, wearing swimsuits out and about is really a normal thing, especially when you’re in a coastal town or near any of the beaches.

My pants are from SIR (wearing size 1), and they’re slightly sheer and fit me so perfectly. I love wearing a pair of high-waisted brief underneath with this type of pants. They’re very comfortable and lightweight!

I’d add a crop top or an oversized shirt, worn unbottoned as an over-shirt or buttoned, if I have a place to go right after the beach.
