Mt. Fremont Fire Lookout is located in the Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier National Park.
From Seattle, it takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes to get to the Sunrise Visitor Center. You’d park there and start the hike following signs to Frozen Lake and Mt. Fremont Lookout. The hike is rated as moderate, and the views along the way are incredible.

Pro tips:
-
Opt for a nice sunny day because you’d want to see Mt. Rainier.
-
The Sunrise area is subject to closures quite early in the snow season due to the high elevation. Visit the NPS website for updated road status and alerts.
-
Stay on the trail and do not feed the wild animals.
-
Bring binoculars to look for mountain goats, black bears, and meadows from the lookout. I’ve only seen marmots and chipmunks.
Wildflowers at its peak at TIPSOO LAKE – NACHES PEAK LOOP TRAIL
Lastly, if you happen to be in the Mt. Rainier National Park area in the summer around July and August, do take a detour to Tipsoo Lake for wildflower meadows. You don’t have to hike it, just park at the parking lot and walk out to the lakes. It’s where many Washingtonians’ secret photography spots and people even get married here. Be sure to remind others to stay on trails to protect the fragile plants and flowers here.
