If you know me, you know my love for skincare and makeup. I love trying out new products when it comes to skincare, but I tend to stay conservative and stick to what works with makeup. Makeup is not my strongest field, so I’d rather leave ‘tutorials’ to the artists. This is not a tutorial but rather a breakdown of steps and products that I use to achieve what I call my signature makeup look.

To me, clear moisturized hydrated skin is the secret to a good makeup application. Yes, you’d need a talented hand and great products, but my philosophy is that beauty comes from within. One doesn’t need all of these products to make oneself feel and look happy. Beauty and fashion help enhance it. If I can do it, you can, too. All it takes is time and practice.

Disclaimer: Don’t feel like you need to have all of the products I have and suggest in this post. I’ve tried and tested many of these products over the years, and a lot of them are repeat purchases. I constantly switch to products made with better ingredients from brands I trust, and I stick to what works. As a blogger and content creator, I also get sent PRs and products (to shoot content with and write reviews for), so I might have more products than an average woman. Shop within your means. Use my links whenever you can since it helps support what I do on here. Thanks for visiting and reading my blog.

My skin is normal to dry. My eyelids and forehead get quite oily, so I always have to prime my eyelids and touch up my forehead during the day if I wear makeup. Luckily, I rarely get breakouts, and dmy skin behaves pretty well.

Daily use of sunscreen on my face and neck since I was a teenager. I cook and eat mostly a whole food diet. Lots of water and fruits. Love noodle soups and everything soups! I keep fast food to emergency only and always walk to pick up my takeout. I don’t go to the gym, but I walk and hike a lot when it’s nice outside. I never sleep with makeup on. I use skincare that focuses on premature aging and wrinkle prevention. I love AHA/BHA, and I basically chemically exfoliate my skin every other day to help clog pores. I double cleanse while I shower at night. Masking and spa/facial are rare things for me, but I’d do it every once in a while.

I’m 32 if that’s helpful to some of you who are looking for women their age to shop for products within their age range.

Skin Prep

In the morning, I only wash my face with water to help wake me up and remove the excess oil. Then I typically reach for a moisturizer with sunscreen, a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, or a moisturizer and a sunscreen to help rehydrate and proctect the skin. This is my skin prep or base layer prior to any makeup application.

My number one favorite foundation is the Armani Luminous Silk foundation hands down! It gives a natural healthy glow and gets better througout the day like I cannot stop staring at my skin. It’s got a light to medium coverage which is my preferred coverage. Estee Lauder is a great full coverage foundation, and Chanel makes some of my favorite foundations I’ve tried, too. NARS and Laura Mercier do great tinted moisturizers, linked below.
TIPS FOR LONGER LASTING MAKEUP: Always PRIME (eyelids and face)! Bake and powder. Use a setting spray and powder throughout the day.

I reach for my Viseart eyeshadow palette the most often. It’s got all neutral matte shades, and that’s literally all I reach for. I play with glitter and shimmery shades sometimes, but I’m a warm neutral gal!

Lip products are the last thing I worry about, and sometimes, I forget to apply any lip products. Hence, I always keep my lips neutral and nude. I’d play with a red lip, 90s brown, or deep burgundy look once in a while, but not often. A gloss is nice, but I get so lazy with reapplying things.

I pretty much do the same exact steps as described above with a little more powder baking and faux lashes. The lashes really take the look to the next level! Just make sure to bring along a compact powder, a brush, lipstick, and lash glue for emergencies and touch-up.
